COURSE OVERVIEW:

Understanding the Role Energy Efficiency has in the Residential Appraisal

This two hour course will address several issues pertaining to energy efficiency:

 Energy efficiency will be defined

 Building codes will be discussed

 Local Energy rating certificates will be shown and guidance will be given on how to read them and what they mean

 A labeling system will be introduced to provide a way for appraiser to communicate and write about energy efficiency

 All three appraisal methodologies will be discussed briefly to show how they apply to energy efficiency in a home

 The conclusions reached from 28 local case studies will be presented

 Photovoltaic systems will be addressed (what data appraisers need to gather, what to be aware of when dealing with leased systems and one case study will be presented.
